Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hardcourt
A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his first trophy for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the competition final.
Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has had a challenging year, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - led to him falling of the top ten and eventually parting ways with long-term trainer his previous coach.
Presently working with his coach and Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Corentin Moutet.
This marks his maiden title following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface from that period of 2023.
Victory also indicates the Russian has secured twenty-one victories at twenty-one distinct competitions.
"It's the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters together, so to secure a championship is particularly special," commented ranked player the champion.
"This title is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his last six championship matches, featuring in that event earlier this year.
The player's retrieving approach and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had led some to question if his skill to play at the elite level was concluded.
Yet the player has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and play aggressively, backed up by an enhanced service.
Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult Moutet, securing four of the last five points to gain the advantage.
The competitors traded break points in the following set before Moutet, striving for his first professional championship, gained dominance to force a third set.
He defended four early break points in a competitive final set before Medvedev broke to that score to close out the victory.
Appropriately, he earned victory with a shot at the net area, with his opponent unable to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
